    Cingular goes 3G in NYC

As expected, Cingular has activated its UMTS/HSDPA 3G network in the New York City metro area. Coverage is limited but should expand in September. The Samsung ZX10 is the only 3G handset being offered in the market.

Cingular should continue to expand its 3G markets through the rest of the year. Since 3G phones are only sold in 3G markets, there has been no national advertising for the new devices or services.
