Nokia Music Store service launches to challenge iTunes

Nokia Music Store, Nokia’s iTunes challenging mobile phone and online music download site, launched in the UK today. The Nokia Music Store stocks millions of tracks from major labels and independents, which users can browse and download from a PC or optimised Nokia handset. The first handsets to support the Nokia Music Store are the music-majoring Nokia N81 and Nokia N95 8GB, with more models to come.
Nokia Music Store tracks cost 80p each, and albums from £8. Users can also subscribe to a PC streaming service for £8 per month, giving them unlimited access to the Nokia Music Store catalogue, with the facility to create streaming playlists online. Users can get dual downloads of tracks with compatible phones - one for the mobile phone and the other for the PC. PC tracks can be sideloaded to suitable Nokia devices, although there is DRM protection embedded in the tracks.
