Verizon has launched the LG VX8800, also known as the Venus. As previously covered, the phone builds on the existing VX8000 series, adding a unique touch screen-and-pad combination. The phone will take the top spot in Verizon’s regular phone lineup.

Like the LG Chocolate line of phones, the device features haptics for vibrating feedback with each key press. In addition, the soft key options in the corners of the screen change based on the functionality appropriate for what is on the primary display. Display keys aside, the device is nearly identical in feature set to the VX8550 Chocolate.

Verizon did note to us however that the Chocloate will continue to be offered alongside the Venus. The VX8800 is now available online for $199.99 with new two-year agreement.
